Senate Approves Gay Marriage Ban

(Link) Yes, the United States Senate has approved a potential amendment to ban same-sex marriage. To the US Constitution. What's next? The amendment that declares us 3/5ths of a person?

It was passed through the committee, which isn't an actual amendment; it still has to go through the rest of the senate and through the house of representatives, and they have to agree on an identical bill. So you're probably still safe.

Okay, so it's just a proto-amendment at this point. Still... it's pretty scary that it's gotten enough approval to go that far. Amazes me that folks would rather leave their kids in Iraq than deal with a married queer couple. "Forget the war! We've gotta stop those queers from marrying!"
