JIC post:

HALIFAX -- Halifax welcomed Rosie O'Donnell and friends ashore on Tuesday.

The former talk-show host and about 2,200 other passengers disembarked from the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn for a taste of the city's hospitality.

The cruise organizers, Rosie's wife, Kelli, and Kelli's business partner, Gregg Kaminsky, chose Halifax because same-sex marriage is legal in Canada and because the city is known for its tolerance towards homosexuals.

Ten couples from the ship were to be married at Pier 21 in ceremonies that occurred every 30 minutes.

Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly is hosting a private reception for O'Donnell at the Halifax Citadel just before noon.

Celebrities Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Gless, Esera Tuaolo, and Lynn Warren and Alex Ali, of Amazing Race fame, are attending.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

*LOL* No cheese, PinkPurl! Would Taco Hell sue us if we stole their "Run for the Border" slogan?
