A jealous mother-of-two has been sentenced to three years in prison for pouring boiling bleach over her lesbian lover.

Juliet Wilson, 35, from Enfield, north London, was furious when she discovered her girlfriend, Maxine Grizzle, 37, planned to meet up with an ex-lover.

The attack on October 26 last year left Miss Grizzle suffering from 14 per cent burns to her face and upper body, Wood Green Crown Court heard.

But the victim forgave Wilson and wrote to ask the judge to be lenient. Sentencing, Judge Bailey said the letter had "knocked two years" off the jail term.

Wilson had admitted grievous bodily harm at an earlier hearing.

The court heard the couple had been together for a few months and were living together with Wilson's children, aged eight and 11.

On October 25 Wilson discovered her lover was planning to see a former partner and told a friend over the phone: "If Max knows what's good for her she won't come home tonight."

Miss Grizzle returned and the couple argued before going to bed. Miss Grizzle said she was woken by "some hot thing over me", and when she looked in the mirror she thought her face was "coming off".

Wilson refused to help or give the phone to Miss Grizzle, who ran outside and flagged down a bus driver for assistance.
